This is just a comment, there is no fix for it currently. Hopefully, enough people will write similar Feedbacks to Apple that they might notice. This is just food for thought.
I very much like Sir Jonathan Ives' designs, both physically and visually, EXCEPT for users' options in iOS 7. Since Jony took control of iOS, I have been very displeased with the look and feel of it.
Visibility has been a hot issue with iOS 7 first came out. Many people who never had problems using iOS on their iPhones, are now having to use Accessibility features to use their iPhones. No problems with the iPad, if they don't have a sensitivity to bright colors.
I realize the benefit of keeping the code for the OS concise, but when it effects the usability because it is hard to see, then I think that is justification to add a few lines of code. A significant portion of the population use corrective lenses. Until iOS 7.1, the visibility options were horrible and bad.
The article that our moderator Brent, just pointed out, on how to darken the colors is a great option, Except it is buried 4 steps deep in the settings, and unannounced by Apple. This gives us a third option, a little better, but it took 5 months. That is roughly 40% of the expected life of the iOS 7.
Brent also pointed out another area where another option would benefit a significant number. How large an image to use of the incoming caller. Right now, you have one option, it is not even a choice between take it or leave it, it is just take it. Unless you consider not using it off an option, which it is.
I still think this is the best hardware and software for how I use it, but it could be a little better on the software side right now.
And since third party developers are not allowed to change or tweak the OS, which I agree with, there is no option available there.
