I agree with Otto that the best way to get a video (if it is in a compatible format) from your computer to your iDevice is to drag'n'drop it onto the iTunes icon, then find it in iTunes (likely under "Movies"), then when the iDevice is connected, tell iTunes to sync that movie to it.
