How were you able to upgrade to iOS 6 at this point? I do not see that as an option...

I just recently upgraded my ipad2 to ios6 ( delayed for the same reason you did.) I have not regretted that. The google maps app works fine on the iPad and actually the apple map product has worked accurately. I'm just not accustomed to it. I personally have NOT upgraded to iOS 7 primarily because I think the ubiquitous/integral changes to fonts/ease of visuals and to calendar that I have seen and know I will not like outweighs any benefits I've read about. My iPhone is a 4s, with ios6 as well. Good luck.
