Try to go into settings , sounds, ringtone and test others to see if they have audio.
Also key tones when your typing a message? Does the external speaker (bottom) pass any audio at all? can you hear music on it?
If you can't hear music at all on the device and the ringtones don't work, then its either a bad speaker or the 2 contacts for the speaker internally are not making contact with the board.
