Very important point, but it did *not* start with digital devices. Anyone
tuning their car radio or swapping cassettes or CDs was/is equally likely
not to be fully aware of conditions, or in full control of the vehicle.
The same applies to anyone lighting a cigarette (and dealing with the ash,
etc.).
