[apple-iphone] picture downloads

Hi all. I'm clearing out pictures on my phone to get ready for our band's trip to PIgeon Forge TN this weekend. I noticed that with my new iPhone 6, when plugged into the computer, I can go to the folder containing photos, and copy them to aother folder on my hard drive as before, but I can't delete, and the photos are still there on my computer screen, even though I picked up the phone and deleted them. On my old 4s I was able to cut and paste photos from the phone, and then they would delete. I have to actually unplug the phone from the PC and plug it back in for the photo listing to be updated. Weird. Is there a setting on my PC I need to change?

Bryan,

The new MacBook Air should work just fine.

What you have done is decreased the secrurity protocol for your email such that the old MacOS will run on GMail.  I would upgrade the MacOS on your old MacBook, if you can, and then flip that switch the other way for obvious reasons.

Bryan,

Good job.  Glad I could help out.  When you upgrade to a newer Mac or MacOS in the future just remember to turn that switch OFF.  Till then if it works don't fix it!

We had this subject come up in our last MacUser club meeting.  Quite a few of our club members are running older Macs and MacOS.  Recently I think Google changed their settings for older software/hardware in regards to security issues that shut them out of Gmail.

Another good reason we should join and support MacUser clubs and forums like this.

Regards,

Bill

Bryan,

OK.

First try this.

Try setting the "Allow less secure Apps" to the ON position.  This will allow older Macs and older MacOS to bypass the new stricter security protocols.
Goto: Google/MyAccount/SignIn&Security/ConnectedApps&Sites/AllowLessSecureApps/"ON".

If that does not work then try this.

Check in Google Mail using Safari on the web browser that the IMAP setting is "ON" or enabled.  Follow the installation guide on that page to get the AppleMail to work if it is not already working.
Goto: Google/GMail/Settings/ForwardingAndPOP-IMAP.  Check that IMAP is enabled and POP is not enabled.

As previously posted the AppleMail port is 993 and Use SSL should be on.
Goto:  AppleMail/Preferences/Accounts/highlight Google account/Advanced/.  Check that port is 993 and SSL checked (ON).

No, it was a response to the recent question about email, sans original quote.

Re: [apple-iphone] messages on the lock screen ?

Hi guys. I thought I'd add my 2 cents to this topic too. I love getting my emails on the lock screen. I just discovered that feature when I got my 6 a month ago or so. One thing I want to know is this: My phone only seems to check the first email account I set up while locked. It doesn't check my gmail accounts, only the hotmail account which was the first. This was the same with my 4s. Is there any setting I've overloked which allows the phone to check all accounts and give a notification while locked?  Please let me know. Thanks.

Sounds like you may have inadvertently changed your notifications for Messages.  Go to "Settings">"Notifications">"Messages", and select how you would like to be notified.

I have changed a setting I think -  I do not get my messages when my phone is locked until I unlock it then the text shows up?   Have I changed something ?
