When I switched from Windows to Mac, I followed the instructions to use Migration Assistant. Very easy to use. I set it up, watched it work, then asked my hubby "What now?" He said, "Just use it". No need to set up drivers, at least for me at the time. My Cannon printer at the the time jus worked. It was great.

I been reading up more and am going to use that and see what happens. If I did it manually
I would probably end up copying pics and things to the wrong places.
I am also going to try to use all the free stuff that comes with the Mac and not install a bunch
of things until I get used to it. Have not used a Mac since the old b&w box way back so sure
a lot has changed. :>

In theory, using Migration Assistant should be the best way of getting all your user info (email accounts, passwords, etc.) over. It doesn't seem to work for everyone, though (for whatever reason).
If you have a full backup of a Mac, migrating that to a new Mac is the same as migrating directly Mac-to-Mac. I don't know if the same applies with a Windows backup.
