Interesting you bring this up, Alice. I had successfully done forced resets
on my iPhone 8 several times since I have had it. However, just this
morning I was not able to accomplish it. A couple of days ago, I updated to
11.2.1, so I wonder if the procedure was changed with that update?

My hubby got me an iPhone 8 Plus for Christmas. I looked at a couple videos
on how to force restart the phone. Doesn't seem to work for me. I don't know
if I'm too slow pushing the up and down volume control before holding the
on/off button or if my phone just won't do it. Any suggestions would help.
