Re: [apple-iphone] new phones???

Same here. $999 is too much for gimmicks such as an animojis. Facial recognition needs to open the phone to the home screen so you don't have to swipe. The difference between the 8/8Plus screen, at 5.5 inches, and the X, at 5.8 inches, is .3 inches. How much difference is that going to make? I don't see it as game changing for the software in price. Sure, the camera in the iPhone X is DSLR quality in portrait mode but how is portrait mode going to look if used for landscapes, amusement parks and on vacation? For $999, don't you think the camera should take all around DSLR quality photos? I could be wrong about the quality though.

I'm with you Brent.
I'm upgrading to the iPhone 8 Plus. It has all of the guts and better battery than the X

Face recognition is "eye candy", not a necessity. The other bit of "candy" is the new screen, which the visible portion is of little or no use to the vision impaired.

They still make several models that have Touch ID, and probably will til all the bugs get worked out.

I just won't be a beta guinea pig at a grand a pop.

It's true they can use a PIN, but that is significantly reducing their usability. Entering a PIN is hard, which is why TouchID was such a great thing. Apple used to get big kudos for adding functionality for the disabled community, particularly for the sight impaired, and this is a step backward.

I think if you research this, if nothing else, they can use a PIN.

I'm going to get an Apple Watch 3, but I'm going to stick with my 6S Plus for the time being. The 8 isn't enough to wow me, and I want to give it some time for the bugs in the X to be flushed out.

I have heard concerns from blind/sight impaired people about face recognition. You have to look at the phone and your eyes have to be open, which they can't do.

I'm going to get the iPhone X when it's released.  In the meantime, I'll be ordering an Apple Watch and TV tonight.  My old such devices are already sold so that helps the cost.
