Wait a couple of months, go to the store, and hold the phones in your hand yourself.
The X has a bigger screen, with more and denser pixels, in a smaller body than the 8+.
And the image it displays is better as well.

No iPhone camera can match the versatility an quality of a DSLR.
Much of the apparent improvement is "computational photography" – digital image processing.
