Re: [apple-iphone] SD card photos to iPhone 6

Didn't your Cannon come with a cord that plugs into your camera and has a USB connector on the other end? Then, if using a Mac, you use image capture to get the photos off your camera.

You all have may tossed this around already (though I do read the list regularly and do not recall a discussion)
Anyway I was out with my Canon camera and came home expecting to transfer the SD card photos to my iPad (air) or iPhone 6. Alas, I am unable to use the camera connection kit that I bought years ago -- probably for my iPhone 4s?.  Even with a 30-pin-to-lightning adapter, the device would not recognize the card reader.
I've nosed around some of the Apple support forums and discovered that apparently this is a discontinued feature.
Anyone here have any experience with an SD card to iPhone transfer?
My newer desktop iMac also no longer has a card slot, unlike its predecessor.
Curious about how to get all the photos onto my iDevices.
This has not come up until now because I usually just use the camera that's built into the phone.
Thanks for your thoughts.
