For me, the changes are good. I didn't normally use the side bar, so not having it didn't even occur to me. I use the 3 icons in the upper left.

All my settings were reset. Most important to me the sidebar is 1. hard to get back on, 2. must be turned on for each category of media, and 3. is a significantly less useful function that before.
