I'm looking at the 6, but NOT the plus.
I need it to be able to fit in a shirt pocket, and the 6 Plus will be too large for that. The 6 is not too large, IMO, but the plus is way too large for my work shirt pocket.
That said, I think you will not find the sapphire screen brittle. I have a Seiko watch with a sapphire crystal; worn everyday for 4 years. No scratches, and never broken. It should be less brittle than glass, not more, I believe.
Sapphire is supposedly next to diamond as far as hardness. This is a big plus for me.
It'll be very nice not needing a screen protector. I know some say they never use one, and get no scratches, but my experience isn't so.
My iPhone 5 had a screen protector since day one. Just the other day I removed the screen protector due to the protector having outlived its usefulness.
The screen is like new EXCEPT the small areas where the protector didn't cover (a ring around home button, and area around earpiece) which are very noticeably dull (hazy from tiny scratches) compared to where the protector was.
And my iPhone 4 absolutely did have scratches from not using a screen protector.

The 6 should be very nice.

I have noticed it was VERY quiet leading up to this. I assumed that it was due to the larger screen sizes, as every time that got raised in the past, it was down with big screens! But some here are keen which is great.I'm keen for a Plus, 64GB, but I will wait and see how it goes as they won't be in NZ for many many weeks. I will need to hold one as they are very large compared to other phones. I mentioned the other day I played with a Note 3 at work. I can use that size. But the iPhone 6 Plus is I recall about 7mm taller, and a tickle narrower 1 or 2mm I think. Yet the Note is 5.7, but thats ok.The 6S Plus will be sapphire screen but I don't see any value there, so if there are no "[insert word here] - gate" issues, I am keen. Big screen yes, but a few niceties in iOS8 to go with the Plus. Re the sapphire screen, yes it sounds very cool, but while it is harder, it is more brittle too, I worry about that on a VERY thin and larger phone. Oh, and I need to hear what the real world experience turns out to be with the battery. Looks good though
