It is if you have times you do not want to use it. 

Leave it running in the background, if you want it active.

Would have been nice if Apple would give some basic instructions.

I asked Siri my address and she responded correctly so today I asked for a reminder when I got home. The reminder was put on the list in Reminders but I did not get a banner or audio notification.
