It is highly unlikely that you would need to wipe it.

You should be able to use Disk Utility or Boot Camp Assistant to shrink your current volume and create a new partition. If you have a lot of files scattered around your HD, you may have to defragment first to create a large enough chunk of free space.

Regardless, be sure to make a backup before you begin.
