[apple-iphone] Re: iPhone 4S doesn't see any wifi networks

I had a similar problem with my Ipad. I took it to the Apple store and was told it was dead. It was under warranty and was replaced.

Everything was fine until about 2 days ago when I noticed that the wifi signal shown at the top was missing and I had 4G instead. Assuming I had switched off wifi, which I sometimes do, I went to the Settings and and looked at Wi-Fi and it was turned on but no networks were showing. I live in a condo where I typically see 20 - 30 networks including mine, but none were showing. I tried the following:

He repeated some of my steps, took it in back and opened it up (he said everything looked good inside), ran some diagnostics on it which came up clean, and then suggested resetting the entire phone. After doing the reset it failed to find a network in the Apple store when it went through the initial setup. His final solution was to offer me a new phone for $199.

He held it an inch away from his router and saw no networks. He told me even with a broken or disconnected antenna you should see something when you hold it that close. He said he'd need to have it for a day to investigate what could be happening and that he'd never seen anything like this before.
