[apple-iphone] Texting problem puzzle

 

Why is it I can text some of my friends, but for others I can text them, but they can receive my text and I can't received their texts to me?

Those which I can text, but they can't receive my text are:

1. On a different service than I use
2. One has an iPhone, one has a Blackberry.
3. I can call both of them--no problem
4. I can email both of them--No problem..

My friends with iPhone 4S (which is what I have) can text them and receive theirs texts, no problem. Some of these friends are on a different service, and have a different phone, but we can get texts from each other.

For those of us with iPhones, we have checked our settings for messages, and they are all the same.

I'm getting really frustrated with this issue.

Suggestions please?
