Since converting to Fios a few months ago I have been unable to print from both my iPhone and iPad.
Is it possible to configure my Actiontec router so I can see printers from my iOS device when printing through the xPrintServer?
Lantronix replied back to me with this message:
Most Access Points/Routers need multicast or UPnP enabled to work with the XPrintServer. Unlike the average router, Actiontec routers, commonly used with Verizon FIOS, do not have these settings accessible for configuration by the customer.
Another option is to purchase a third party router that is known to support the Airprint protocol. If you are unsure if a certain router is Airprint compatible, check with the router manufacturer. This router can be added in addition to your Actiontech router. (Note: The new router should be used as your Wi-Fi connection for your iOS device.)
Due to limitations and other potential issues determined by Engineering, Lantronix is no longer developing the planned iOS app that enables iOS printing that bypasses the required multicast and UPnP protocols for AirPrint communication across wireless routers.
They then suggested that I call Verizon Fios, which I did but their tech support didn't seem to know anything about this limitation.
Does anyone have a solution to this annoying limitation?
