Re: [apple-iphone] Re: Disappearing Music

Thanks so much Otto........I have had intermittent luck with networking my MBP and my PC.........I have had it networked but it does not stay that way........I have no idea what I am doing wrong.  I also had my MBP using my HP 310C printer but that has gone away too......seems like it was with an update somewhere along the line.

I am going to be out of town for a couple of weeks so I won't have a chance to follow your instructions but will save them and try it when I get back.......I really appreciate your time and effort with this.

My PC is my main computer, with the MBP being the one I use in the evenings, and on trips, etc so I would guess that means I want the MBP to connect with the PC?

Thanks again..........
Lynn

Networking computers is really old. The issue has always been computers with different OSes being able to "talk" to one another.

Mac-to-Mac is trivial. You simply enable file sharing (System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing) on one Mac and then other Macs on the same network see that Mac as a network server. You then log in and have full access to the files in your user on that other Mac (you can access files in the Shared user without logging in).

If you have a Mac and PC, it's not so easy, and it also depends on whether you want the PC to connect to the Mac or vice versa.

If you say which of the above applies, I can give more info.
