I did have an issue. My original apple time machine stopped working one day.. left me with no WIFI. Turns out I had purchased another one
for sale online and had a backup. I don't totally trust any machine alone to keep my backups. I don't know the all my backups came thru when I upgraded to Yosemite not to mention how slow it is. So I do also back up to an external Seagate HD. I have a back up drive for the last four systems or more IOS systems. I'll don't usually need to go back to search thru them, but just incase I am looking for something I keep them
