[apple-iphone] Re: Advice on Switching Carriers [T-Mobile]

My husband and I switched to T-Mobile last January from AT&T, and I couldn't be happier. Coverage everywhere I've been has been good, with one exception: a small town in Arizona on the Mexican border, where the Mexican signal "bleeds" across into Arizona. However, working with people from T-Mobile, we finally got things fixed so that his phone doesn't connect to the Mexican system. I've used my phone in Phoenix, though, and had very good coverage, as I do in the Las Vegas area where I live, and also in Houston during a visit.

In addition, it was really great having free data and messaging (not voice) from Europe when we took a trip there last summer; that works in a huge number of foreign countries.

One thing I really like about T-Mobile is that the cost of the phones themselves is shown separately from the usage costs. That allowed me to pay off our phones early and get the monthly bill down — something I appreciated. We didn't choose the plan where you get a new phone every time you turn around, and we didn't opt for more data than the lowest amount, since T-Mobile doesn't charge extra if you do go over; they just slow you down. Since we don't use that much data, it's not a problem for us.

HTH.
