I agree, I am totally bummed out by the missing sidebar. Once again designers took something that worked well and made it a hassle.--------------------
It would have helped if they had provided some explanation.
Instead of trying to cram EVERYTHING you might want to access into a single sidebar, they have provided icons for each different area of interest (podcasts, music, videos, TV, Apps, …).
Some of these don't really *need* a sidebar (e.g., Apps), and if you click on those, no sidebar appears.
Others (e.g., podcasts) DO need a sidebar, and if you click on them, the sidebar appears.
