We started with 3 phones, 3 people, all unlimited, with a low voice use family plan.
I gave up my unlimited when (a) I saw that I never got anywhere near using all of it and (b) I realized the Hotspot functionality would be very worthwhile for me.
We dropped my wife's unlimited because she used cell-data functions extremely little, and reducing her allowance would save money every month.
Our housemate kept her unlimited because she streamed audio at work, and that ran to about 2 GB monthly.
