I have an unlocked iPhone 4c, bought directly from Apple; surplus because of upgrade. I'd like it give it to a friend (w/o sim card, that went to my new phone). She can't afford a phone plan, so she'd like to use it as a camera, iPod, GPS. Using free wifi connections, have an Applestore account, Skype, texting via WhatsApp, Facetime, etc.
I've been told this won't work without a SIM card; does anyone know? SIM card being part of the verification process? Any workaround?
