Re: [apple-iphone] Mark 1,710 emails as read?

Did you have the problem? Have you tried this and did it work, or are you just giving the normal first steps?

The problem seems to vary by email provider. So please indicate who your email service is, whether it is behaving, and check any others you have.

This problem or downloading all the email on the server to the iPhone seems to be limited to only some of the email domains. Gmail being one of them. Embarqmail.com, which appears to part of Century Link, seems to be another one.

Exchange email accounts or servers seem to offer the ability to select the number of Mail Days to Sync in Settings/ Mail, Contacts, Calendars/ (Exchange account) towards the bottom.

My iCloud and Comcast.net accounts quietly downloaded then emails in the background, and no not currently offer a means to limit the number of emails to download from their respective servers. Not a problem as far as data usage for me, but it seems that if I enable a disabled email account on my iPhone, it wants to download a ton and they are all marked as unread. Without a way to select and either delete or mark as read a large number of emails at time, it will be a royal PITA.

Sync your phone, take a backup and then format your iPad. Restore data. Confirm your backup is good. I faced same issue. I didn't do anything. A few days later the phone crashed and I had to force format it. I didn't have had a chance to sync.

Under edit you get a mark all function. But you can only "Flag" or mark "read". Why not include "delete" . Delete all is a function we have wanted since the very beginning.
