I also have the iPhone 4.
Firstly, you should download from Apple the User Guide for the phone. Look through this page [<http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search&product=&q=iphone%20user%20guide&src=support_site.kbase.search.searchresults>] for the iOS version you have and download that. That will provide you with all the detail of your current phone's features and usage. If you are fully satisfied with your current phone there is no need to upgrade unless you think that the features of the soon-to-be-released new phone software iOS 7 will be more useful than what you already have. You should look at the Apple site to find those.
The iPhone 4 will not be able to incorporate all the features of iOS 7 but it will remain a very stable, efficient and useful phone. Some folk think that the iPhone 4 is a bit on the slow side in using its various apps but if you are not a power user that should not worry you.

I just bought the phone at the local verizon store (a little over two years ago) and they set a few things up on it and kinda just handed it to me! They did have someone to talk with me about a couple of things that, of course, by the time I got home, I didn't even remember most of what they had said. lol But, it came with no instructions book, etc. I am sure it will do way more stuff than I even know it will do.
