[apple-iphone] The Numbers on a Text Message

 

Does anyone know what the numbers in the near-upper-right hand corner of a text message mean?

This is probably a very stupid question, but I've been wondering about this since iPhone 1.

Its the numbers that are "2348/160".

Nearest I can tell without counting letters and spaces is that the first number is the total characters, and the second number is the total number of words--anyone know?
