I find that bluetooth definitely causes the battery to go down at a faster
rate when there is no bluetooth device connected. I think it is because it
is constantly searching for a device to connect to.

I can't answer the other question as I don't usually have the bluetooth on
when not using a bluetooth device. I did ask my husband and he says he
doesn't see much battery difference when bluetooth device is connected but
not in use.
