[apple-iphone] mobile email downloading ?

 

Often when I am out, I go to get my email on my iphone and I get the message that the email cannot download because it is
Being used by another device. I haven't used my ipad in over a week.. So it has been off.

My computer was sleeping when I left the house.
When I got home I opened my computer and my email on my phone and the alert was there.
A few minutes later it disappeared and my mail started to load.
I don't understand it.

What does this alert mean?
