I have an iPhone 4s, this is a new to me occurrence, the letters show up in a cartoon like window, not like when you're typing in a password or regular message. This only happened with a reply to an email...haven't seen it before or since. When I write/type an email under usual circumstances, the letters appear in the sentence as I type, with the instance I'm referring to the balloon was above the text, large in size and made the letter strike delayed/slow...like typing in slow motion.
