[apple-iphone] Is iCloud Dependable?

 

I currently use the traditional method of backing up my phone to my home computer through iTunes. My brother is trying to convince me to use iCloud. I am unsure as I've heard some negative comments. I'd like to hear your opinions please.

If it makes any difference I'm using a 4S phone and am an unsophisticated user. Would iCloud backup my apps automatically?
