Have you tried using the google-provided string to forward your iphone
calls to google voice? This way, even if people call your iphone, the
voicemail will be handled by GV.
On the other hand, if you have called someone with your iphone number, the
recipient may have saved your iphone number to call you back instead of
using the GV number that you have provided them.
