I wasn't sure how to phrase the subject, so hopefully my explanation will make sense.
I've started a new job with a company. Our 1-800 number has our acronym as the last four digits. So, we put our number in our email signatures, on letterhead, etc. as 1-800-123-DIAL (this is just an example, not my company number).
However, we've run into situations where people get our email on their smart phones, and the telephone number is highlighted to click-and-call. However, the phones aren't catching the acronym at the end... and so it's defeating the purpose.
We don't want to be redundant and put 1-800-123-DIAL (3425), because it eliminates the option to click-and-call.
Does anyone have a suggestion of what we could do to "fix" this? Has this ever come up before? As I mentioned at the beginning, I don't know how to phrase it, so I'm not sure what to search for online.
Any input would be appreciated!
Thank you!
