Re: [apple-iphone] From Jan. 8, AT&T will no longer offer two-year iPhone contracts

My monthly service fees were lowered when I switched to the NEXT plan.  I think that the amount of decrease depends on the data allowance you choose.

Fine and dandy if they lower their monthly bills to make up for it. However, if this is simply a way to raise prices then I am opposed. If the bill is $x with a free phone, as long as you hang on for two years, then it should be lower than that if you are supplying your own phone.

There is no such thing as a FREE phone on a contract.

The phones cost the same amount whether you purchase them on a contract or outright.

The difference with a contract is that the cost of the phone is subsidised by the network provider.

Several months ago, I decided I wanted to get the 6+ and pass my 5S to my wife.

I was on AT&T, so I decided to go with their Next plan, and as a result I now have unlimited voice calls, unlimited text messages, roughly double the data limit, on 3 lines, and pay about $50/month less than I did before on 2-year contracts.

[apple-iphone] App Store secret (from iMore.com)

How to clear your App Store cache and force a reload

Ever wished you could force the App Store to reload?
Well, you can!

Not seeing new apps?
Updates that just won't go away?
While the App Store isn't technically a web page, sometimes it feels like you just want to force it to clear the cache, reload, and make absolutely sure you have the latest, greatest, most up-to-date information available. Well, Apple built in a mechanism to do just that. It was simply a well-kept secret... until now!

How to clear the App Store cache and refresh your content

• Launch the App Store app from your iPhone or iPad Home screen.
• Tap ten times on any of the tab buttons at the bottom (Featured, Top Charts, Explore, Search, Updates)

That's it.
The App Store app will purge its cache and reload everything fresh and updated.
You can do it any time you think you're not seeing the latest content, but there's no need to overuse it.

[apple-iphone] Re: Can no longer sync Audiobooks

That used to work. Now the icon I am trying to drop into the device just flashes and the files do not copy to the device.

This is how I get audiobooks onto my devices:
I connect my device and open iTunes to show the device contents.
Then I find the location of the audiobooks MP3 files on my computer.
Then I drag the audiobook files onto my device contents in iTunes.

That's it! I have a 6 year old iMac.
