Has anything changed since the initial sync? It may not sync if there are no changes.

I have the latest iPhone X S and a new MacBook
I synced the phone with the MacBook and everything went smoothly and all my 30,000 photos appeared on my iPhone
however after this first time the photos have stopped syncing no matter what I do
I have restarted both the phone and the Mac and everything syncs but the photos
please help
