iPhone 5s 16GB GSM... almost a year old but still under Apple Warranty. Was locked to Consumer Cellular when new but has been unlocked by Apple and used briefly on US Mobile. Now back on CC. US Mobile did not work for me.
THE ISSUE:
I have been having an intermittent problem: when I click a link in an email usually the whole referenced page shows up but sometimes only the top part of the page shows up before it stalls and then the phone gets hot.... presumably in some kind of a loop because the link fails and it is trying to connect.
I seem to be able to make it happen more or happen less by quickly and repeatedly clicking links or by waiting for awhile.
Typically I am looking at a Computerworld Newsletter or something like that with many links, and it seems that the first one or two links that I click work OK but then there is a failure on the third or fourth or whatever-erth link. I usually do not spend a lot of time reading the pages that are displayed.
Is it possible that available RAM in the iPhone is not getting flushed out quickly enough to deal with closely spaced searches? It has only 1GB of RAM. I do not have this problem at all with my 2GB RAM Moto G4 phone.
After rebooting the phone and letting it sit for a few minutes it seems to work well again for the first few attempts bit then after successfully linking to a few quick web pages it starts acting up again.
I have tried restoring the phone and removing most of the apps. I have also tried turning cellular wi-fi assist on and off. Does not seem to have any effect.
Any thoughts???
I am currently planning to take it down to the Apple Store and test it using their wi-fi and then talk to the "Genius Bar" people if it fails there... and do it in a day or two from now before the 5s' warranty expires.
