Sometimes my phone doesn't make the transfer from the AT&T network to the AT&T microcell at home. I have found that putting the phone in Airplane Mode and then back to normal (much faster than a reboot) solves the problem. Perhaps the same work around will help you.

There's a way of getting a more precise reading of signal strength, in dB in fact.

Rather than the phone, it might be with the network. Contact your mobile provider and talk to them. The rebooting fix might just be coincidental, as the network might come back while it is rebooting. Doe he notice a weak signal in the upper left of the screen? Five bars (actually dots on an iPhone) is great, but two is probably okay. Big difference between 2 and 0 though.

Re: [apple-iphone] iTunes backups

 

With the latest iTunes update (12.4.2.4) I'm having a problem. I backup to my local computer. 12.4.2.4 not only defaults to iCloud but when I change it to "This Computer" it doesn't stick.
iCloud is simply not an acceptable option for me. 
Has anyone else noticed this problem and come up with a solution?

Turn "iCloud Backup" OFF in Settings —> iCloud —> Backup on your device.
