Re: [apple-iphone] Home button not working

Doris,
I hope this may be helpful in your case, but on different occasions, 1) my home button stopped working, and 2) one half of my screen stopped responding along with the home button. In both cases, the Apple Genius Bar quickly found it was a partially disconnected cable inside the phone, and fixed it quickly.
Good luck,
Dick

I need to take my phone in because the home button isn't working. If I press it long enough it just goes to Siri who usually can't take my request right now

Any idea how long it would take to repair it and a rough estimate if cost?

I am traveling so this is so inconvenient.

Thanks,

Doris

If it activates Siri, then it clearly IS working, at least somewhat — probably enough that the following suggestion might work:

Have you done a hard reset (Home and On/Off button held down until the Apple logo appears)?

Some folks have fixed a sticky Home button with a very small amount of 70% alcohol, and "exercising" the button.

What iPhone?
Long out of warranty?

Re: [apple-iphone] Home button not working

Have you tried cleaning it thoroughly with a soft cloth lightly moistened with water?

Re: [apple-iphone] changing location of app icons

Have you tried dragging the icon that you want to move to the lower left edge of the page while it is shaking?

I am not sure how to change the location of the app icons on my iPhone 4S (version 7.1.2) I used to be able to press on one of the icons, and they would start shaking. Then I could just move the one I wanted from one page to another. One of my app icons somehow moved to page 5, and I want it back on page 1 but although I touch the app icons and they shake I can't change their locations. When I try to change them on the computer, with the iPhone connected to the computer, I can only move the total pages but not the icons within each page. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Hi Susan

I like to buy Apple Stuff at the Apple Store...  there is one near-by and if anything goes wrong, they are sure to correct it quickly and cheerfully. And their stock on-hand is probably fresh...

But then for price, WalMart or Best Buy might beat them by a dollar or two.

I am going to replace my 3gs iphone with a new upgrade. Where is the best place to buy an iphone 4 or 5 without a contract? I use Consumer Cellular so I don't need another company for a service provider.
Thank,
Susan
