Personally, I never found it a problem: you just have to treat it as a mini
ring road with separate roundabouts.

Here in New England it sounds very funny to call a rotary a "roundabout".
I was sort of joking, but it *would* be a nice touch for Apple maps to
be location-aware like that.
We also never EVER call a highway a "freeway" which is the common term
out west (haven't had the chance to see what Apple Maps does with
that)
On the plus side - when a road has both a name and a number, we locals
always refer to it by the name, and Apple Maps *did* do that. Although
that might not be a plus for an out-of-towner.
We call them "roundabouts" in the UK, of course, but I thought that
"rotary" was the usual term in the USA (not that they're that common there).
