Re: [apple-iphone] Battery replacement

If you haven't already, I would try logging into the iTunes store on your PC.  Be sure that the user account that was used to purchase the songs is indicated on the left side of the tool bar & then click on Purchased shown under the Quick Links section.  Then click Music>Songs>Not in My Library.  If it doesn't work it won't hurt anything.

Ellen, how did the iPhone 5 battery replacement go with your phone and your husbands?
That was not my issue.. someone elses I was just responding to them.

Why are you worried about the cord? If you get a new iPhone, it will come with a new cord, probably another Lightening cord.
I am not worried.. as I said I wanted to get new ones on sale but no sense getting more if the new phone comes out with something different as
they have already in the past. So I just wanted to take advantage of the sale if I knew what was coming out, but as I responded it is not clear that they
will even ship a cord with the new phone... I realize the guesses are speculative at this point. We'll find out soon enough.

Since Apple does not release much about the product before the product is announced at a keynote, what you probably saw was from someone other than Apple. And even at the keynotes, they don't release all the details. The next one is September 9th.

If Apple does release one with inductive charging, it will probably still have a Lightening connector, for data and charging, as a alternative. But then again that is just a guess.

If you have a grandfathered ATT contract, you should be able to bring a new phone to it, just not a subsidized one. Meaning you'll pay full retail.

Brent

not so sure about that either...
All depends on ATT... as I said the sales person thinks they will continue to honor my current deal with ATT.
I'll see. I'm not buying an unsubsidized phone or I won't buy one at all...

[apple-iphone] Battery replacement

I'm not Ellen, but I'm the one with the battery replacement issue. We went to the Apple Store on Saturday but unfortunately they didn't have any batteries in stock. My husband left his phone with them and they gave him a loaner until they get his battery replaced. He should get his phone back in a week or so. They are also fixing his lock button which had stopped working.

My phone was a different issue. It does need to have the battery replaced, but the tech said there are other issues dealing with apps on my phone that are also affecting my battery. She wants to restore my phone to factory settings rather then restoring from a backup. Otherwise, she said I will continue to have battery problems even with the new battery. (Right now my battery is so bad, I have to always be plugged in to a power source.)

Although I had backed up before going to the Apple Store, I wasn't quite ready to let them wipe my phone. There are some songs that exist only on my phone and I can't get them to transfer to iTunes. Even though I have proof that I purchased them, Apple customer support says I have already downloaded them and therefore cannot download them to my PC. I think I'm unlikely to get any cooperation from Apple customer support, so I'm going to have to bite the bullet and assume the songs are lost. But I have definitely decided never to buy music from iTunes again - I can get anything I need from Amazon, and and Amazon customer support actually supports the customer.

The Apple Store will notify me when the batteries come in. I'll have to go back to the store and leave my phone with them for an hour or two while they install the new battery. At that point I'll let them restore from default.

I'll let you all know what happens.

Regards,
Leti

Re: [apple-iphone] cords

Just got this new information:

Analyst Says Apple is Unlikely to Ship Reversible USB Cable With iPhone 6

The article can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/pks36ow

"Apple is unlikely to ship a reversible USB cable and new charger alongside the iPhone 6."

However this I find is still speculative.. and can't say there was anything definite about anything!!

But as you all said, we should know soon. I may hold off just a little to see how the new phone is reviewed by buyers.  But probably will go for it.
I'm worried about my contract which I do not want to change when I get a new phone, although a salesperson at Radio Shack did not think ATT would
rescind my grand-fathered data package. I guess I'll have to wait and see. The sale will probably be over just about then for the cords, but there will be others I'm sure.

Thanks for you answers. I saw something mayb a projection that the new phone would come with a charger, it showed a round disc, that
was wireless perhaps and I'd guess with electrical plug in  to place the phone on? It was a bit unclear to me so I was unsure what the cord method would be if it didn't need a wireless station  to charge it?
