Re: [apple-iphone] Gmail Connection Away From Home

Boy, I think you've got it  Thats exactly were we were, in radiology!  This is good to know.  If I'm really desperate to check email, I will just turn off my wifi and let my cellular so the work.

Thanks!!
Bobbie

Have you tried the highest rated email app?
With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your inboxes (Gmail, Outlook, AOL and more) in one place. Never delete an email again with 1000GB of free cloud storage.

Re: [apple-iphone] Calendar spam

(catching up with backlogged mail)

>> While reading about the recent New Zealand earthquake on my iPad, I suddenly got a notification of a calendar event for tomorrow. As I have a medical appointment tomorrow, I have looked at the date on the calendar recently, so I KNOW this was not there until just now. It seems to be a commercial spam, and I have deleted it without doing anything else with it.

Didn't see an explanation for this. Apologies if I'm repeating something that has already been said.

Fantastical draws its data from Apple Mail's database, or so the genius bar college kid told me. And a recent Apple Mail update started sucking up event dates mentioned in email messages. ALL email messages, including stuff identified as spam and moved into the Junk folder.

Unless you've turned off Mail notifications, iOS sends notifications for these.

Ack! Ptui!

[apple-iphone] Re: Gmail Connection Away From Home

If you use the hospital wifi, you will not get email. They block it. You will need to shut off wifi or get email by going to the Gmail site through Safari. Probably easier to switch off wifi until you are done and want to surf.

Yeah, there are tons of wires and electronics in hospitals. Where was radiology & the other imaging?

Re: [apple-iphone] Gmail Connection Away From Home

I was visiting a hospital at the time where they have a free WiFi connection which showed up as being ON in my Settings along with my Cellular being ON.  That is what made it confusing.  Even if the WiFi didn't work it seems as through the Cellular should have.  Like you, I turned off the WiFi on my iPhone 5s and I was connected.  This happened more than just one day at this location.  I have never been able to connect through their WiFi.  Strange, isn't it?!

Thanks,
Bobbie

Re: [apple-iphone] Holiday Sales?

Take a look at the Apple site on Friday, November 28 to see what they might be offering.  You might also check at Best Buy.

Does anyone know if Apple may have sales soon? I'd really like an iPod but $399 is too pricey. I also have a college kid whose phone is not only cracked but has a inch chunk of glass out, and hoping for a phone deal (he's got another 6 months on it).
