[apple-iphone] iTunes lost the plot

Can anybody tell me why, a day or two ago, iTunes suddenly started asking me to agree to the license agreement Every time I plug my iPhone in to sync? Can anybody tell me why, at the same time, it decided that my phone was syncing with "another user" (it wasn't) so I had to reset the sync record and reset the Contacts etc to sync, doing a "merge" to keep all my data. Has it updated or upgraded without asking me? This does not seem to be reliable software all of a sudden (I have used an iPhone and iTunes with Windows for some years)

Re: [apple-iphone] iPad Blank Updates Page Is a Known Issue, Apple Working On It | iPad Insight

Has anyone tried plugging in their iPads to their computer and doing the update there? If you never did a sync to your computer, do a sync, then go to your apps tab and update the apps. Then sync your iPad. It's the only solution I can think of right now.

I'm brand new to Windows 8 so do not know what apps are available or even how to search for specific apps that may be available. The big need is getting Internet on the laptop since there is no Internet connection right now. Can it be downloaded to the iphone and then have the iphone be connected somehow to the laptop so the laptop can be used to get mail and to the Internet?

First, if you have been to the previously referenced <https://www.tunnelbear.com> you will already have seen a button for "PC" ("PC/Mac" actually)

There are three different, unrelated, but interacting things here:

1. Tethering, which allows you to let your iPhone become a "hotspot" (via Bluetooth, USB, or Wifi) for other devices, including your Windows computer. Tethering has nothing to do with VPN, nor does it affect your data cap.

2. Data cap, which specifically looks only at the amount of data transmitted through your iPhone's cellular radio -- whether it is the iPhone or the Windows computer generating/receiving the data. Your data cap has nothing to do with VPN, or with tethering, except that you may reach your data cap sooner when tethered.

3. VPN -- Virtual Private Network -- is a secure "tunnel" you can choose to set up to use with non-secure connection sources. Normally, your home network will have been set up with security, and your cellular connection is also secure, so VPN is typically used in 2 circumstances -- (a) work telecommuting, where the employer insists on a VPN connection (and provides the server), so they can KNOW workers' connections are secure, and (b) when using public Wifi hotspots. VPN does not affect your data cap, and has nothing to do directly with tethering.

Re: [apple-iphone] App Store not responding- Again the same problem

Then for all those who are having this as a reoccurring problem, I suggest that you update your apps by syncing to your computer until it goes away.

This is not a critical problem, it is only a minor inconvenience, and to be honest, I am getting it is more of a connection issue than a software failure. If it is a connection issue, then it is beyond Apple's control, although it is suspicious that it popped up suddenly. But it does seem to be affecting only a small number of people.

I encountered this problem for an hour or so, and after quitting the AppStore.app and restarting the app, it has not reappeared. And I just updated 5 apps by WiFi, at home.

Re: [apple-iphone] IOS 7 worry - low contrast

Ditto!

My greying eyes more contrast like black and white, especially on smaller screens.

I suggest that you leave feedback here:

I'm middle aged (at best) and I have a lot of trouble reading low-contrast

white-on-light.

Does anyone know if there's going to be a way to turn that off? The "flat"
look also reduces contrast by removing shading that helped separate
elements.

Re: [apple-iphone] App updates - and Private WiFi

I think that before you use VPN you need to set up "tethering". This is
where the phone provides the internet connection using the cell network and
provides a Wi-Fi "hotspot" which the laptop can use. You'll first need to
see if your data plan allows tethering and if your allowance is sufficient.

Will this be just a temporary measure?
